We drove down to Ft. Myers on Thursday after Michael got off work and stayed with Nicole and Guillermo. Then we got up Friday morning and headed to Miami for the day. This was really nice because we were able to break up the long car ride to Key West (with a 3 month old) over a couple days. Nicole and Guillermo came with us to Miami and we had a blast. We did priceline and got a totally swanky room at the Hyatt Regency for $65! Wish I knew how much money we have saved over the years by doing priceline for our hotels.
Anyways we checked into the hotel, fed and changed Landon, and headed out to find a lunch spot. We wound up at a great little Irish pub nearby. It was about 2:45 by this time so the restaurant wasn't crowded at all which was really nice. They had awesome food too! We got a delicious spinach artichoke dip with pita as an appetizer. Then Michael and I split a burger and a dish of mussels with french bread, yummy! We got a dessert to celebrate Guillermo's birthday too which was last Wednesday. Such a fun start to our trip!
Landon was such a good boy during lunch! He slept part of the time and kicked and smiled the rest.
After lunch, the boys took Landon back to the hotel to start cocktail hour and Nicole and I shopped for a couple hours and then headed back (after getting ridiculously lost and looking like idiots trying to figure out where our hotel was)!
We ordered pizza for dinner and watched college football in the hotel room, such a fun night. :)
Saturday morning, Nicole and Guillermo headed home to Fort Myers and Michael, Landon, and I loaded up the car to head to Key West, dressed in our Ga gear obviously for our first game of the season. These pictures were in the hotel right before we hit the road.
Landon did awesome in the car again, we were so lucky! We left at 8:30 and made it there about 12:15 without stopping. We tried to check in but our room wasn't ready yet so we loaded Landon into the stroller and walked down to Duval Street to find a restaurant that had the GA game on where we could watch it and get lunch. We wound up at an Irish pub (again!) and got the bartender to put the game on one of the tvs no one was watching....not quite sure why UGA vs. Buffalo wasn't what everyone wanted to watch, but whatever :)
We got some beers and yummy potato skins and watched the first half. There was no air conditioning in the restaurant (come to find out, that's how most of the restaurants were, which we are not used to), so at halftime we headed back to the hotel because Landon was getting pretty hot, and so were we!
We checked in and went to our room, we had our own little house. It was so cute!
We watched the second half of the UGA game and cooled down. Landon was much happier in the AC. He went through 4 GA outfits total :) Good thing we brought them all!
Then we took showers and got ready for dinner.
We put Landon in the stroller again and headed back to Duval Street. We met up with all of Michael's coworkers and had some drinks. Landon did great and was passed around to be held. He only fussed toward the end when he got hungry. I fed him while we ate some appetizers, then Michael and I headed out around 8 to get Landon back for bath time and bed. We wound up ordering a pizza since we never really had dinner. It was a fun night and Landon was so good! :)
Sunday morning we woke up and decided to go do a little sightseeing before it got too hot.
We stopped at CVS and bought a battery operated fan to keep Landon cool. He had a pretty nice set up :)
We stayed out sightseeing and strayed a little too far away from air conditioning. Landon let us know he was hot and unhappy, and Michael and I wound up running and pushing the stroller until we found an ice cream shop we could dip into to cool off and feed Landon. We must have looked ridiculous running while pushing him in the hot weather. After that, little man was happy again so we headed down to eat lunch on the water. We found a great little restaurant with an amazing view and had lunch- coconut shrimp and lobster sliders, yum :) Then we went back to the hotel to relax for a bit and then shower and get cleaned up for dinner.
The place we went for dinner was a casual place, but apparently Landon didn't get the memo because he wore his best tie :)
Daddy isn't very good at trying to get Landon to smile/laugh while still keeping the camera focused haha.
Dinner was great that night too and once again Landon was a trooper and smiled and played well past his bed time. Michael and I said Landon was such a great baby the whole trip, that even if he cried the whole way home Monday it was worth it. Well Monday morning we headed out at 8:30 and git back home at 5:00. We only stopped 3 times total and they were quick stops. Landon just did awesome and we are so lucky he is such a good baby. All in all, it was a really great first family vacay. Can't wait for many more :)
